If there is only a short time from the time a date is decided until the actual date of marriage, it puts pressure on the bride-to-be as well as both sides of the family that are going to be a part of this marriage. Even if there is a long time or a reasonably long time, certain things have to be put into place way ahead of the actual wedding day.

Revelation 19:7 states “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride (wife) has made herself ready.” There are different opinions as to who the Bride of Christ is but the most traditional view is that it is the company of those who have made Jesus their Savior. If you consider yourself to be born-again, you may be qualified. Why do I say “may be”? Because that verse also states there is a part we are to play. We are to “make ourselves ready.”

What could that mean? Is it possible that we could disqualify ourselves from being a part of that bridal company? I am not talking about our eternal salvation which was totally bought and paid for by Jesus. There is nothing we can do to “earn” our salvation. But is it possible that there are some things we need to do to qualify to be His bride?

Do you remember the Old Testament story of Esther who was one of the young women selected to be prepared to replace Queen Vashti who dishonored her husband the king? Esther submitted herself to a lengthy process of being prepared for the one and only chance she would have to be qualified to be the next queen. She had maidservants and eunuchs who were assigned to her to get her ready. Because she submitted herself to everything they required of her and then only did what her advisor told her to do the night she was to be with the king, she was ready to meet him. She pleased the king and became the next queen. But even more amazing is that the Lord had her in position to influence the king when evil Haman tried to destroy all of the Jews in that empire.

What if Esther had rebelled against her Uncle Mordecai and not been willing to go? How many teenage girls today would obey that kind of request? How many of them would have a submissive heart and allow others to get her ready for this life-altering event? How many born-again believers do not have a submissive heart to allow our heavenly Eunuch, the Holy Spirit to get us ready? How many believers may disqualify themselves from becoming the Bride?

2020年欧洲杯赛程详细时间One of the main things that I see hindering the modern church is complacency. In the letter to the church at Laodicea, Jesus is addressing the lukewarmness of that church. He would rather have us hot or cold than to be lukewarm. I think complacency is one of the main things that can lead an individual or a church to become lukewarm. How do we become complacent or lukewarm? Several thoughts come to my mind.

When we become satisfied or at ease where we are at, we can easily become complacent. Everything seems to be pretty much going the way we want it so why do anything different? Much of the church in America is in that place. As long as all or most of my needs are being met, why rock the boat? Until our own little sphere is shaken up, we can become self-satisfied which can lead to complacency.

The other reason we can stay in the same place of lukewarmness comes from disappointment. All of us have been disappointed at one time or another, but what we do when that happens can determine whether we will gravitate toward complacency or whether we will stir ourselves up and get healed from any disappointment. When we have certain expectations or when we have been promised something that never materializes, then we can move into disappointment which will then lead us to become complacent. We say what difference will it make in the long run if I just have my hopes dashed again? I am not willing to take that chance.

If she wants her wedding day to be all that she has envisioned it to be, she will have to stay pro-active every day. Certain things take a long time to plan and execute. Other things have to be done right at the last, but they won’t just happen without plans being made ahead of time.

What drives most brides to make sure that everything will be ready for that day? For most brides, it would be her love for the bridegroom and the thought of spending the rest of her life with the one she loves. They have already spent time talking and thinking about the future together.

2020年欧洲杯赛程详细时间It should be no different for those of us who want to be a part of the Bride of Christ. We should be using every spare moment getting to know Him and His desires for our future together. We should be spending time together now because the scriptures indicate that we do not know the day or hour of His coming for us. Yes, we think we know the season, so we should always stay alert. We should have oil in our lamps and be prepared for any delay that may happen. We should stay in a place of expectancy and readiness. Ask yourself the questions I have posed and take serious the place you truly find yourself in.

2020年欧洲杯赛程详细时间None of us knows the day or hour but we can take every day we have while on this earth to prepare ourselves to be that one who is ready and waiting for His return!
